UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. When doing this it is important that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The three measurements to check are the top screw's location the lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to aid you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever door handle is a modern handle that can be installed on doors that are new or replacement. This style of door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and operate with the same spindle as well as screw fixings so they can be easily incorporated into doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be placed and angled to suit the needs of all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever can also be cut to fit a wider range of locks. This is especially useful for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles on doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes and variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle an outstanding performance and durability for its intended use.

All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is often beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the problem of handles for internal bifold doors for doors that slide out of their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is important to ensure that the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often referred to as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect in ensuring that you have the appropriate handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size you will then need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. They are usually a square or round shape with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they return to their horizontal position when not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a home. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are hand-operated, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically used on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of door. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins in the lock body and permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors generally requiring different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for instance, should be fitted with cylinders with greater security while doors inside can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, for instance, anti drill or anti bump properties.

To make sure that the euro door handles cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't possible, you may take it off to measure. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it is not too long.

Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chance of a attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This can deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders made to resist snapping. This is faster and less difficult than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of your door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their original position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position since they aren't easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a more detailed diagram). These cassettes are a replacement upvc door handles to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are supplied in one unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
